Beautiful British Columbia. I now live in Shawigan Lake BC, now don`t get me wrong I`m not one of those Ex-pats who slag off the UK, So yes the Lake District is a beautful place. However Shawnigan is like Ullswater must have been like 100yrs ago,Lake front property on Vancouver Island (the size of say England/Wales)is about1/4 of the uk price. There are under 1million people on the whole of the Island(plenty of Cougers!!!!) The wildlife is absolutely amazing, I can stand out on the dock and watch Trout & Bass swimming around me, we regularly get Otters lazing about on the dock or running along the beach! There are Bald Eagles and Ospreys swooping down to catch fish and wildfowl (of course only the bald eagles try to catch the wildfowl - and at 3 feet tall whose to argue with them!) We have Deer that walk between the house and the garage and drink from the lake, there are Humming Birds that feed on our patio from Spring all thruough summer and yes they can fly backwards, this is besides the usual vermin - Racoons, Mink etc. Oh! have I mentioned the Bears!! The Salmon in the local rivers at spawning times are so numerous you could walk across their backs. Look up BC Parks on the web and see for yourself. Weather is similar to northern France, much milder than UK, in fact this summer on the lake was like being on the Mediteranean, we only had 2 days of rain from April to October! Yes we love the Lake District and have many happy memories, especially the Pooley Bridge Inn! Next year we're hoping to come back for a visit with some of our Canadian friends and show them the REAL England (not just London!) and if anyone is in the Pooley Bridge Inn around Aug/Sept. 2004, keep your eyes open for a bloke in a Canadian T-shirt playing a guitar singing Eagles/Simon & Garfunkel songs! Regards, Mike

This has become a favourite site of mine. Clear, concise and a reliable source of useful info.

Just one small niggle though... would it be possible to include the date of posting on items for sale/wanted please?

I do like to keep popping back to the list in my hunt for bargains for myself (and other would be caravaners) and don't really want to keep rereading the older ads (although I realise that they are there until sold). A date would do the trick!

KIND REGARDS, JILL

Good well laid out site.Havent been all around it yet, but i will certainly keep it in my favourites and revist. If any one wants a spotless well run 4 Star camping and caravan site, i cannot recomend BARCDAY between Harlech and Porthmadog in north wales strongly enough. No dogs allowed. Stunning grounds and suroundings, quite and peaceful.
